COVID-19 Letter to Defendant

Due  to the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the Emergency Judicial Order set in place in Grantville Municipal Court, you can imagine we are going to face a “new normal” and that includes some new procedures being put in place. 

We hope that you understand that these changes are not to inconvenience you, but to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to handle their judicial matter safely and efficiently.

We ask that you follow the guidelines below for a safe, effective and efficient experience.

Only defendants ages 21 and older may attend court hearings.  No admittance to children, spouses,  or other family members to your scheduled hearing

time.  If you do not have childcare we will allow you one (1) reset for this reason.  Please call our office to be rescheduled.

If you are non-English except Spanish speaking, please call our office before your court date, so that we may reset you for one of our interpreter court days.

Defendants 21 and under may have one (1) parent or guardian attend the court hearing with them.

You must check in at the security desk at or before your court time.  

As you approach the court entrance you will notice six (6) feet distancing markers on the ground, please adhere to those markers, waiting patiently for the line to move.  Lastly, Court security will be using temperature scanners to ensure that defendants with temperatures higher than 100.4 will not be allowed in the courtroom.  Hand sanitizer will issued during check-in at court security and mask or cloths are required and will be issued if you need one.

If you have already paid your citation and your appearance is not required, in other words, you do not need to come to court unless you want to.  If you wish to dispute the violation, it is your right to appear in court.
