HISTORIC PASSENGER DEPOT

RESTORATION & REHABILITATION

JUNE 19, 2020

 The City of Grantville is seeking bids and/or proposals from a licensed and insured General Contractor to obtain all permits and supervise the rehabilitation and restoration of the historic Passenger Depot in the City of Grantville in accordance with the approved plans, specifications and Secretary of the Interior historical guidelines.

Specific requirements of the General Contractor:

A. Shall have a minimum of ten years of operation and be in good standing with the State of Georgia.

B. Shall have verifiable experience with the execution and completion of three prior rehabilitations of historic buildings:

(1) Shall provide representative selection of before and after photos of both the Interior and exterior for each project;

(2) Shall provide a brief synopsis of each project; and,

(3) Shall provide the property owners contact information for each project

C. Shall provide information, if any, regarding past experience working with a municipality or other government agency.

D. Shall provide a resume and if applicable, a resume of the project manager who will oversee the rehabilitation of the interior of the Passenger Depot.

The project should be completed within 90 days of the notice to proceed.  If the project should extend beyond the 90 days without a change in scope or prior approval of the City of Grantville, the General Contractor will be assessed liquidated damages in the amount of $200.00 per day until the work/project is complete.

A mandatory pre-bid conference walk through will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Passenger Depot, 30 Main Street, Grantville, Georgia 30220.  Hard copies of the approved plans and specifications must be requested through the City Clerk, Robi Higgins at email:  rhiggins@grantvillega.org.

General Contractors may submit questions in writing to preservationsouth@bellsouth.net no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020.  All questions and answers will be forwarded to all prospective bidders/proposers.

Sealed bids/proposals are due by 5:00 PM, Monday, July 13, 2020 addressed “Grantville Passenger Depot Rehab” on the front and delivered to City Clerk, 123 Lagrange Street, POB 160, Grantville, Georgia 30220.  Bids/ proposals may also be sent electronically to preservationsouth@bellsouth.net.  Bids/Proposals that arrive after 5:00 PM. on Monday, July 13, 2020 will not be considered.

The City of Grantville reserves the right to reject any or all of the responses to the Request for Proposals/ Bids; to waive any technicalities; to readvertise the Request for Proposals/ Bids; and to negotiate with the respondent whose proposal/bid comes closest to meeting the purpose of this Request for Proposal/Bid in the sole discretion of the City of Grantville.
