FCC Emergency Broadband Benefit Enrollment

FCC Emergency Broadband Benefit Enrollment

Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) reported that last week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that beginning on May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB). The EBB is a $50 monthly discount to eligible households on broadband service from participating providers and a one-time $100 discount on a connected device from a participating provider. Local governments are generally not eligible participants on behalf of households unless they operate sponsored programs that bill households for at least partial payment.

Today, the FCC released an outreach toolkit, including flyers, video files, audio files, and social media assets in a variety of languages, that local governments can personalize and use in their communities.
