Animal ControlThe mission of the Grantville Animal Control Unit is to enforce the state laws and city ordinances pertaining to animal control and management; educate the community in responsible pet ownership and wildlife care; and provide for the housing and care of homeless animals and coordinate their adoption when possible and their humane euthanization when adoption is not possible. The primary emphasis of the animal control officer is the enforcement of city ordinance relations to leash laws. The Animal Control Officer also maintains and operates the Grantville Animal Shelter. Animal Control has placed more efforts in identifying and handling dogs that are considered dangerous or potentially dangerous under the City Code and State Law. Finally, the department is also responsible for addressing problems with non-domesticated animals, such as snakes, that are considered a threat or nuisance.
